DC World, which manages Djibouti Customs since 2005, has implemented its indigenously-developed Mirsal World customs control and clearance system in Djibouti Customs since mid of May, 2005. This IT-driven system has put in place an electronic network that links all Djibouti Customs locations with the one at the border of Ethiopia.
By implementing DC World’s Mirsal system, Djibouti Customs Administration could manage to plug revenue leakage to a great extent, enhancing its control over the remote point at Ghalafi port on the Ethiopian border. This helps to monitor the movements of shipments across the borders through the system constantly.
The co -management of Customs by DC World and Djibouti Customs has fetched tremendous increase on revenue when compared with previous year. There is an upward trend on Customs revenue as it has increased by 24% during the period of 2007 compared to the figures of 2004.
